Abstract
Background and Objective: Asthma-COPD Overlap Syndrome (ACOS) represents a complex interaction between asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), exhibiting characteristics of both conditions. This overlap presents significant challenges in
clinical practice, often resulting in increased disease activity, higher rates of exacerbations, hospitalizations, and mortality. Despite its considerable impact on health, ACOS is frequently under diagnosed and inadequately treated, mainly due to the similarity of its symptoms and the lack of standardized diagnostic criteria. This study aims to evaluate the prevalence and clinical features of ACOS in patients with asthma and COPD, with the goal of enhancing diagnostic accuracy to improve treatment outcomes.
