Abstract

Hepatitis B infection is a major health concern that affect people of all ages worldwide. Research has shown that many of healthcare workers have HB infection where they can transmit it in turn to the patients. In this study we looked at the effect of hepatitis B vaccine on healthcare professional in the region of Medina. This study found that only 25% of healthcare workers being vaccinated and the rest did not have the vaccine at all. Knowledge on the importance of having a vaccine is another significant factor that were seen in the study population as many participants were not aware on how the HBV can be transmitted to patients. Therefore, to protect patient from hepatitis B infection, it is vital to establish HBV vaccine promotion programs and activities in primary care settings to educate healthcare workers on the importance of the vaccine.
