Abstract

:   LA thrombus in Rheumatic Heart Disease -Mitral Stenosis cannot be explained only with the slowdown of blood flow and stasis in the left atrium associated with rheumatic mitral valve stenosis (RMVS)  ;  seen in around 20% of these  with only valvular obstruction. In addition to LA stasis, inflammation, oxidative stress, platelet size, and an increase in activation have been found to be associated with thrombus formation . Recently, the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), known to be an inflammatory marker, has been found to be associated with various cardiovascular diseases.
